Prof. Dr. Bakhtiyor Rasulev is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University.  Previously at NDSU, he was a Research Scientist at the Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology. The research of Prof. Rasulev and his research group is focused on the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-based predictive models to design novel bio-based polymeric materials, and nanomaterials and to predict their various properties, including toxicity, solubility, elasticity, degradation rate, etc. The group applies computational chemistry, machine learning and cheminformatics methods for modeling, data analysis and development of predictive structure-property relationship models to find structural factors responsible for the activity of investigated materials. The group is also involved in the development of a materials database, which will be useful in designing new polymeric materials, nanomaterials and hybrid/composite materials, as well as assist in the prediction of various physicochemical properties, biological activity, including toxicity and degradation pathways for life cycle assessment. For this purpose, he applies cheminformatics methods, such as QSAR, as well as quantum-mechanical calculations, protein-ligand docking, and data mining. Dr. Rasulev is an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nanotoxicology and Nanomedicine. The publications of Dr. Rasulev include 4 book chapters and 60 scientific papers in top peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Nanoscale, etc. He is a reviewer for 25 scientific journals that cover biochemical and nanoscience topics.
